Man who escaped Bailey County Jail sentenced to 35 years A U.S. District Judge on Thursday sentenced to 35 years in prison a 39-year-old Plainview man who admitted to a brazen escape from the Bailey County Jail where he was being held while awaiting his sentencing for a separate federal drug and weapons charge. Mark Anthony Lucio, who is being held at the Terry County Jail, faced up to 35 years in prison in November after he pleaded guilty to a count of escape from federal custody, which carries up a prison term of up to five years in prison. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s signature of a bill that will increase funding for schools serving Native American and military communities across New Mexico. “This change is going to be a generational change,” Zuni Pueblo Gov. Val Panteah said during a signing ceremony outside the state capitol, where he addressed Democratic leaders who passed the bill during this year’s legislative session. “I thank you on behalf of Zuni people, and Zuni kids.” The law eliminates a state credit that deducted 75% of federal funding from state funding that schools received to compensate them for serving communities with large tracts of federal land. ....
