Residents file to run for seats on Eatontown Borough Council
EATONTOWN – Two Democrats and two Republicans are seeking their first three-year terms on the Eatontown Borough Council. The four candidates are running unopposed in the June 8 primary election.
The terms currently held by Republican Joseph Olsavsky and Democrat Jasmine Story will be on the ballot in the Nov. 2 general election. Neither incumbent council member is seeking re-election and their terms will end on Dec. 31.
Seeking the available terms, according to information provided by the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office, are Democrats Coleen Burnett and Mariel Hufnagel, and Republicans David Gindi and Everett Lucas.

Eatontown council reorganizes for 2021; appoints municipal professionals
The mayor and council members held their annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 1.
During the meeting, Democratic newcomer Danielle Jones and Republican incumbent Mark Reagan were sworn in to begin serving three-year council terms after winning the Nov. 3 election.
On the six-member Borough Council, Republicans hold four seats and Democrats hold two seats. The mayor’s office is held by independent Anthony Talerico Jr.
After all the members of the governing body were seated, Gonzalez was appointed by Talerico to serve as council president for 2021. His term was confirmed by his fellow council members.
