Ocala aunt saves infant s life with living-donor liver transplant

Instead of baby clothes, Patti Marton gave her infant nephew the gift of life. Marton, 36, of Ocala, became a living organ donor when a portion of her liver was taken in a six-hour operation on Jan. 26 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Children s Hospital and given to her nephew Clayton Niemesch. Marton met and held her 8-month-old nephew for the first time the day before the surgery. Clayton was born June 5 to Stacie and Matt Niemesch of Strongsville, Ohio. Stacie Niemesch is the sister of Patti Marton’s husband, Tim. Clayton was taken days after his birth to University Hospital s Rainbow and Babies Hospital in Cleveland. He was soon placed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Renee Moncla & Patti Whittington Receive Caught in the Act Award

Enter your number to get our free mobile app This week, we have something that we don t get very often. It s a Two-Fer with the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award! Though we only got to talk to one of the recipients, Renee Moncla, we were told by Renee s daughter, Tiffany Thompson, that her Aunt Patti Whittington, is equally responsible for all these great deeds. And when we say great deeds , just look at what these two ladies do in our community every month! This letter is about my mother, Renee Moncla and my Aunt Patti Whittington. Every month, sometimes twice a month, they cook for the homeless and deliver food, hygiene supplies, blankets and more. They walk the streets of downtown Shreveport looking for people in need of these items. They dress up for each holiday and go in character delivering cheer and items needed putting smiles on faces of people who have forgotten to smile. They take my son, my cousins, and nieces with them teaching them to give back to those in need.
