Local Authorities must constantly engage stakeholders -Dr Ato Arthur


Ing. Dr Nana Ato Arthur, Head of Local Government Service said there is the need for local authorities to constantly engage and dialogue with stakeholders through every available avenue to engender trust and confidence.
He said it was important to draw stakeholders’ attention to the mandate of Regional Coordinating Councils (RCCs) which appears to be very limited, given modern day dynamics of Local government administration.
Dr Ato Arthur said this at the maiden conference of Regional Minister, Regional Chief and Coordinating Directors and Deans’ of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chiefs from the various regions.
The two-day conference, which is on the theme: “Deepening Decentralisation and Local Governance for Accelerated Development in Ghana: The Role of Key Stakeholders,” is to take the participants through Ghana’s Decentralisation policy document and how to achieve the document targeted goals. ....

Establish Effective Relations With Local Authorities - Chief Of Staff


 
Madam Akosua Frema-Opare, the Chief of Staff has advised Regional Ministers and Regional Chief Directors to establish and maintain strong and peaceful relations with Chiefs, Opinion and Religious leaders in their various jurisdictions.
She said the peaceful co-existence between government representatives, administrators and traditional authorities in the regions were the easiest way to facilitate development in the areas.
Madam Frema- Opare gave the advice at the maiden conference of Regional Ministers, Regional Chief and Coordinating Directors and Deans of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chiefs from the various regions.

I Support Election Of MMDCEs — Dr Ato Arthur


 
The Head of the Local Government Services, Dr Nana Ato Arthur, has stated that he supports the election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
He noted that being appointed chief executive came with no security of tenure for which reason he supported the election of MMDCEs.
According to him, most MMDCEs were always struggling to become Members of Parliament (MPs) and found means to sabotage their MPs because of their job insecurity.
Why is it that MMDCEs control more resources than MPs and yet they want to go to Parliament. It is because they are sure of their job security at the Legislature for four years . ....

The Head of Local Government Services, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur, has revealed that he would at all times support the election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
He said being appointed as Chief Executive comes with no security of tenure, the reason why he supports the proposed election of MMDCEs.
According to him, most DCEs were always struggling to become Members of Parliament (MPs) and find every available means to sabotage their MPs because of their job insecurity.
