Prairie Grove officer is off the ventilator and awake

PRAIRIE GROVE, Arkansas The Prairie Grove officer who was shot and injured while responding to a domestic disturbance on May 4 underwent surgery on May 7 where surgeons had to partially amputate his left leg, according to a Prairie Grove Police Department (PGPD) May 13 update.
While attempting to make entry into a bedroom, 42-year-old Nickolas Colbert fired three rounds from a shotgun and semi-automatic pistol striking Officer Tyler Franks in the upper portion of both legs.
Officer Andrew Gibson immediately applied tourniquets which have been credited to saving Officer Franks’ life. ....

Washington Regional released the following statement regarding Officer Franks condition:
Washington Regional has been asked by the family of Officer Tyler Franks to provide a statement about his condition. Officer Franks is in stable condition after having vascular and orthopedic surgery and is currently in our intensive care unit. The family appreciates the overwhelming support from the law enforcement community as well as everyone else who has shown their support. The family also asks that you please keep them, Officer Franks, and the suspect’s family in your thoughts and prayers.
Paramedics took Colbert to the Washington Regional Medical Center where he underwent surgery. He is reported to be in stable condition as well. ....

Officer Tyler Franks continues to improve and is in good spirits. He will move to a rehabilitation facility soon to continue healing and expects to make a full recovery. Officer Franks and his family would like the community to know that the outpouring of support they have received over the past week has helped them through this difficult time, and they appreciate continued prayers. Hundreds gather in Herald to show respect for fallen officer

Fallen Sacramento County Sheriffâs deputy Adam Gibson and his K-9 partner Riley were remembered Saturday with a Cowboyâs Honor Ride in Herald. Deputy Gibson was shot and killed along with Riley Jan. 18 while responding to a call at Cal Expo. The officer, along with his family, lived in Herald.
Calling it a solemn procession of mourners, Saturdayâs Cowboyâs Honor Ride was organized by Norman Nather, who gathered volunteer horseback riders from all around the state to show their respect to the fallen officer and to show Gibsonâs family that he will not be forgotten.
Inspired by a fallen officer procession near his home in Livermore several years ago, and concerned for the growing animosity toward law enforcement officers and unnecessary deaths, Nather decided he wanted to do something to show his support for peace officers. ....

NCPD Officer Rex Sprosta Named '2020 Lt. Stephen W. Wood Officer of the Year Award' Winner

Officer Rex Sprosta, a U.S. Marines veteran hired by NCPD in October 2004 is winner of the 2020 Lt. Stephen W. Wood Officer of the Year Award.
Created in 2014 and first earned by Wood’s own son-in-law, the award is designed to “honor and memorialize a beloved member of our department,” Krolikowski said in a a press release.
A U.S. Marine veteran himself, Wood served the town from 1977 to 2009 and “was taken from us far too young,” Krolikowski said.
