Inaugural Juneteenth Parade to be held in Dumfries Greater Prince William and surrounding communities are invited to participate in the Inaugural Juneteenth Parade in the Town of Dumfries on June 19 at 7 p.m. The parade route will begin at the corner of UMC Dumfries, at 3890 Cameron Street and conclude at the Dumfries Slave Cemetery with a candlelight vigil in honor of the ancestors, music, and reflection. Groups ranging from: Youth Organizations, The Divine Nine, elected officials, candidates, businesses, nonprofits, and more are encouraged to register to walk in the parade. Participants are asked to park at Dumfries Elementary school and line up at Dumfries UMC no later than 6:30 p.m. Groups will walk with their respected category listed on the form. ....
LPW, Prince William Chamber partner for virtual walk-a-thon May 1 through 22, Leadership Prince William (LPW) and the Prince William Chamber of Commerce are hosting their first Lead the Way Virtual Walk-a-thon fundraiser. This event is made possible thanks to several sponsors, including Youth for Tomorrow. Participants can walk when and where they choose, with ideas provided on the event website. For the last few years, LPW and the Chamber have collaborated on Gourmet Guys Give Back, an event designed to bring the community and local leaders together around GREAT food prepared by amateur chefs. This year with COVID restrictions still in place, the two not-for-profit organizations decided to do something a little different. ....
Area volunteer opportunities: Translation services needed Photo: Habitat for Humanity Prince William County Greetings, Prince William – Volunteer Prince William’s Alternative Community Service Program needs 2-3 Spanish/English bilingual volunteers to provide translation services to our community service clients each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. This is an as-needed, remote, teleconferencing opportunity. Spanish-speaking clients are instructed to phone our office Tuesdays and Thursdays between 1 pm and 3 pm. We will conference with you on the call in order to assist with completing our intake process. Training is provided!
