Ag In The Classroom Gives Almost $7,000 In Grants To Schools And Ag Organizations

The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation’s Ag in the Classroom program has awarded $6,898 to schools and organizations to expand agricultural literacy. Groups, schools and organizations can apply for up to $500 as part of the Ag in the Classroom’s matching grant program to support a project, provided they have a source of matching funds.
2021 Recipients:
Bonduel Agriculture Department and FFA, Bonduel – Bonduel Chicken Coop: $500
The chicken coop will be used to raise broiler chickens in order that middle school students can see firsthand how animal agriculture works. The goal is to raise 25 broiler chickens during the school year and hopefully have the chicken served during school lunch. ....

Compeer Financial’s Fund for Rural America, the Farm Credit cooperative’s giving program, has awarded 40 General Use Grants, totaling $182,000. General Use Grants fund initiatives and organizations whose work enrich agriculture and rural America, aligning with Compeer Financial’s mission.
The organization says the grants will directly impact the lives of 1.2 million people and will touch 6.2 million lives. Eighteen grants totaling $91,293 went directly to coronavirus-related efforts.
“The General Use Grant is integral to our organization’s commitment to the farmers and communities we serve,” says Karen Schieler, senior corporate giving specialist at Compeer Financial. “This program impacts the communities where Compeer clients and team members live and work and embodies our commitment to enriching agriculture and rural America.” ....
