After months of waiting, any Californian 16 or older is eligible to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.
On Tuesday, San Francisco jumped the gun and announced that all residents aged 16 and over are now eligible.
There are varying ways to secure an appointment including MyTurn, the vaccine-booking site run by the California Department of Health but there are also a handful of drop-in sites in San Francisco where all you need (theoretically) to do, if eligible, is walk in and roll up your sleeve. ....

Though many people are desperate for the vaccine, many others are still hesitant - especially in the African-American and Latinx communities. So, the mayor of San Francisco took a big shot Tuesday to try and change that.
Mayor London Breed received her single-dose Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine at the Maxine Hall Health Center, hoping people will think, “well, if she can do it, so can I.”

“I’m excited to get the Johnson & Johnson vaccine because it’s one and done,” she said. “But also because the people who are sometimes hardest to reach, there will be challenges getting them to come back to get a second appointment. So I want people to know that it’s safe.” ....

SF Mayor London Breed went to a clinic in her home neighborhood, the Western Addition, to receive her COVID-19 vaccination today. Breed was one of a number of public officials receiving the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, following on a campaign by top health officials to convince the public that it is just as good as the other two vaccines at preventing severe illness.
