TALLAHASSEE, Fla. Floridians receiving the weekly $300 Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation benefit will no longer be able to collect that payment as of June 26, the state announced in a news release Monday.

Job search requirements for Florida unemployment benefits to be reinstated soon, DeSantis says

Gov. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday that he expects to reinstate a requirement that people in the unemployment system submit weekly work search updates.
Talk of the change comes after some local business owners say they’ve been struggling to hire workers, while claiming some people would rather collect unemployment than work.
Some Central Florida restaurants, including Maxine’s on Shine in Orlando, have had to limit their hours due to staffing shortages.
“We’re closed on Wednesdays now because we cannot exhaust the employees that we already have working doubles every day, we have to give them a break because of not being able to get new people,” owner Maxine Earhart said. ....

ORLANDO, Fla. – A restaurant owner in Orlando said that their business is having a hard time finding staff.
Maxine Earhart from Maxine’s on Shine in Orlando said their business has also had a hiring sign on the door for a month.
“The struggle is real,” Earhart said.

“Lots and lots of restaurants. I mean I have friends that can’t even open their restaurants for lunch because there just isn’t any labor pool for people to work that shift,” Earhart said. ....
