Researchers believe that manipulating bowel cancers based on their immune landscape could unlock new ways to treat resistant tumours.

The new study found that profiling the immune landscape of cancers before therapy could identify patients who are likely to respond to radiotherapy off the bat, and others who might benefit from priming of their tumour with immunotherapy.
Scientists at The Institute of Cancer Research, London, in collaboration with the University of Leeds and The Francis Crick Institute, studied inflammation in bowel tumour samples taken before and after radiotherapy from 53 patients. North County Land Trust acquires new conservation area on former Simplex land in west Gardner

GARDNER It’s been referred to as “the people’s backyard,” and now the 157-acre property off Keyes Road in west Gardner is open to the public as a new conservation area.
The property, which was once owned by Simplex Time Recorder Co. owner Chris Watkins, was recently donated to North County Land Trust by Salem Five Bank. The land consists of a mix of woodlands, small ponds, an open sandlot area, a certified vernal pool, access to Parker Pond, and connects to the city-owned, 122-acre Cummings Otter River Conservation Area, which was established in 2012. ....
