Frank Olson was born in 1910 to Olaf and Anna Olson in the town of Hurley. He was an exceptional student and graduated from Hurley High School in 1927. He went on to the University of Wisconsin in Madison where he distinguished himself as an honors student in the study of agriculture. He briefly worked as a substitute teacher in Hurley but returned to Madison and earned a Ph.D. in bacteriology in 1938. It was in Madison that he entered the R.O.T.C. and earned a commission in the army, although he remained on the inactive list. He went on to Purdue University in Indiana where he taught while continuing his research in agronomy. He married Alice Wicks of Eau Claire in 1940. ....

Parks and Rec lauded for addressing concerns about Rec Center expansion

Parks and Rec Director Steve Ashworth told the County Commission that he thought his department âdid a much better jobâ of âreaching out to many of the stakeholdersâ this time around.
The Teton County Board of County Commissioners agreed.

Contracts up for approval Tuesday may address concerns about Rec Center expansion

The SPET-funded Rec Center expansion may move forward again with changes that could address some concerns that halted the process roughly a year ago.
The Teton County Board of County Commissioners, which approved a stay on the renovation in July, is set to consider three contracts for the project Tuesday morning.
If approved, they would hire a climbing gym consultant, a local construction manager at-risk, and an ownerâs representative â an outside group that ensures projects finish on time and within budget â for the project.
All three contractors could address issues raised in the past year.
Climbers fretted that the proposed gym could be inadequate if appropriate expertise wasnât included early in the design process. Local businesses questioned an earlier recommendation to hire out-of-town firms during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ecosystem leaders will talk tourism at virtual '22 in 21' conference | Local

Thereâs been ample speculation of an unprecedented wave of tourists soon to break over Jackson Hole. So, local economist and Jackson Town Councilor Jonathan Schechter wants to get everyone together to talk about it.
âThe reason I want to do this right now is because, like everybody else, I think this summer is going to be crazy,â Schechter said. âThree months from now everybody, their brother and their dog are going to be burned out, because there were a lot of people, too few employees, and itâs stressing our systems. I hope that some people will remember that there was this conference, and that at least somebody is thinking about these issues.â ....
