I’ll just be going to different bars and restaurants so if I’m required to wear a mask, I will and if they don’t [require], I’m with that too.” KRYSTLE WILLIAMS: “I’m still social distancing, wearing masks; me and my family haven’t done a whole lot of gathering in the last year so it will be the same as last year. If we do anything, it will probably be just me, my kids and probably my siblings and that’s about seven people and do like a cookout outside.” ....

There are drinks with fun names and fine booze with regulars destressing and unwinding. And if that was all Atomic Lounge is, that just might be enough. But Atomic Lounge is really an experience and the bar is a component of that experience. Husband and wife owners Feizal Valli and Rachael Roberts have created the experience and are hopeful it will return to its full force after the pandemic. The American South The performing arts, the hospitality industry and schools have been upended this year by the coronavirus pandemic. Theaters have been empty and silent. Bars and restaurants have dealt with restrictions that can seem to change daily. Teachers have been forced to master virtual learning. As 2020 comes to a close, we asked a theater and festival director, a bar owner and a teacher to tell us about their year and their hopes for 2021. Someday the show will go on A musical theater production or an arts festival both take months to plan. When the pandemic shut down the performing arts, Mike Lopinto had both in the works for June. Lopinto is the artistic administrator for the Hattiesburg, Miss. company Hub City Players, which was set to perform the regional premiere of “Kinky Boots.” The show would kick off the town’s annual FestivalSouth, where Lopinto is also a director. ....
