Industry calls for economic impact analyses on NEEEB… proposed law described as ‘vague and draconian’ 2021-03-03 Adding its voice of concern to those of other industry and private-sector players, Team Namibia has called the latest National Equitable Economic Empowerment Bill (NEEEB) into question as an appropriate economic strategy, particularly given the current economic crisis the country faces, and thus called for a proper economic impact assessment of the proposed legislation. Team Namibia believes the document, which was first introduced in 2017, revised in 2019 and again in 2021, includes concepts which would stop money coming into the country which would result in fewer jobs. ....

March 2021 - 11:46 Photo credits: Team Namibia Team Namibia has questioned the suitability of the National Equitable Economic Empowerment Bill (NEEEB) especially during the current economic crisis and has called for a proper assessment of the bill. In a media statement issued on Monday, Team Namibia said the bill in its current form goes against the concept of unity and does more harm than good as it stops money from coming into the country and would mean fewer jobs created. The bill in essence seeks to ensure that Namibia’s resources are shared equitably and in a sustainable fashion through the implementation of the National Equitable Economic Empowerment Framework (NEEEF). ....
