Salt Lake City police warns of guns found in carry-on bags May 15, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (AP) Salt Lake City Police are asking travelers to check carry-on bags before coming to the airport after several guns were found at the security checkpoint. In April, Transportation Security Agency officers found four guns in travelers’ bags on a single morning, KUTV reported. “We’re seeing a lot of guns,” said Salt Lake City Police detective Michael Ruff. They usually don’t know they have them in their bag but that carries a lot of penalties, both civil and criminal, for them.” ....

Last week the Sno-Eagles Snowmobile Club of Eagle River requested to be given upkeep responsibility of the current ATV/UTV trails south of Bauer’s Dam. But the Landover ATV/UTV Club of Conover is opposed to that action. Sno-Eagles representative Howard Wolf indicated their membership voted to become a duel sports club and currently maintain 90 miles of snowmobile trails. “If we are awarded the ATV/UTV miles discussed, our club will ensure they are always safe, sign compliant, and well-groomed for our guests to the Eagle River area,” Wolf said. ....
Moab City Attorney Laurie Simonson summarized steps the city has already taken toward mitigating street noise at a city council workshop on March 9: It has implemented a 15 mile-per-hour speed limit for off-highway vehicles like UTVs and ATVs on city streets, placed a moratorium on licenses for new UTV-related businesses, and placed a moratorium on on special event permits for ATV events. After the defeat of a proposed state law that would have allowed Moab to place a nighttime curfew on OHVs, the council discussed revising the cityâs existing noise ordinance and approaches to enforcement and touched on coordinating on noise issues with other authorities like Grand County and the Bureau of Land Management. ....
