Herts Musical Memories welcomes £25,000 cash boost to help people with dementia through music

Herts Musical Memories is set to receive £25,000 to continue its musical services for people living with dementia.
The money will enable the small Hertfordshire-based charity to deliver singing sessions for people with the dementia to support their wellbeing.
The grant was received from Music for Dementia’s £500,000 Paul and Nick Harvey Fund, which was set up specifically to directly support musical activities for people with dementia.

On Friday 17 September last year, Nick Harvey and his father Paul, a former composer and music teacher, sat down at the piano.
It had been a hard day for Paul, 81, who has dementia, and Nick, in hopes of raising his father s spirits, remembered an old family party trick , in which he would improvise a two-minute piece of music made from just four notes of another person s choosing. ....
