$30M going to NJ colleges, universities to address COVID impacts
Thirty-five colleges and universities in New Jersey are sharing close to $30 million in federal funding that s meant to address the coronavirus pandemic s impact on postsecondary education.
Most of the funding, $28.5 million, is headed to institutions of higher education that applied for the competitive grant program Opportunity Meets Innovation Challenge.
The new initiative will help schools implement best practices and develop reforms that focus on students who are historically disadvantaged and were among the hardest hit by the pandemic, such as low-income students, working-age adults, and underrepresented minorities, Governor Phil Murphy and Secretary of Higher Education Brian Bridges announced Monday. ....

NUEVA JERSEY – El gobernador Phil Murphy anunció el lunes el nombre de las 35 instituciones de educación superior en Nueva Jersey, tanto públicas como privadas de misión pública, que recibirán parte de los $ 28.5 millones en fondos federales para apoyar las prioridades centrales del Plan Estatal para la Educación Superior y abordar las impactos de COVID-19 en estudiantes.
Además, se otorgarán más de $ 1 millón a 11 instituciones públicas para combatir la inseguridad alimentaria entre los estudiantes.

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority and the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education Monday announced that Atlantic Cape Community College has won the New Jersey Offshore Wind Safety Training Challenge, and will receive $3 million to establish an industry-recognized offshore wind safety training program and facility to prepare New Jersey workers for jobs in the state’s growing offshore wind industry.
The Offshore Wind Safety Training Challenge is part of Gov. Phil Murphy’s whole of government approach to achieving his goal of generating 7.5 GW of offshore wind power by 2035 and positioning New Jersey as a hub for the American offshore wind industry. ....
