4,355 Niger Delta youths empowered with market-relevant skills

Dara Akala, executive director PIND FoundationAt least 4,355 Niger Delta youths have been trained and equipped with market-relevant skills. The youths were drawn from Akwa Ibom, Abia and Rivers and were trained in emerging sectors such as agriculture, construction, leatherwork, ICT and renewable energy to enable create jobs for themselves and reduce restiveness. The youths were trained by the Foundation for Partnership Initiative in the Niger Delta (PIND) under its Niger Delta Youth Employment Pathways (NDYEP) project. The Executive Director of PIND, Dr. Dara Akala, during an award in Port Harcourt at the weekend, said the youths were trained according to the need of the labour market as revealed by an assessment.

Abia launches 30-year development plan

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia By Wed Apr 07 2021 The Abia State Government has launched a 30-year development plan with a an assurance that it will be sent to the House of Assembly for legislation. Speaking at an occasion held at Michael Ọkpara Auditorium, Umuahia, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu said the development plan would give room to consistency government projects as subsequent governments would sustain it when it has been legislated upon. He said the plan, Abia State Long Term Development Plan (ABSLTDP), 2020 to 2050, is a roadmap for the development of the State. The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu, said virtually all segments of the State, were carried along in the plan.
