Randall Hank Williams (born May 26, 1949), better known as Hank Williams, Jr., is an American country singer-songwriter and musician. His musical style is often considered a blend of Southern Rock, blues, and traditional country. He is the son of country music pioneer Hank Williams, and the father of Hank Williams III, Holly Williams, Hilary Williams, Samuel Williams and Katie Williams. Sam is expected to start recording officially in 2010.
Williams began his career imitating his famed father. His style gradually evolved, until he was involved in a near fatal fall off the side of a mountain, which apparently changed his personal and professional life. After an extended recovery, he challenged the country music establishment with a blend of country, rock, and blues. SportsCenter “together members of the Black skiing population, and the rising star the group hopes to elevate to the U.S. Olympic SC Featured” segment will tell the story of the National Brotherhood of Skiers (NBS), an organization formed to bring together members of the Black skiing population, and the rising star the group hopes to elevate to the U.S. Olympic team.
“Black Diamonds” will debut in the 8 a.m. ET hour of
SportsCenter on Sunday, Feb. 28, and will re-air in other editions throughout the day.
At a time when African Americans on the ski slopes were a rarity and Black ski clubs were an exception, Ben Finley and Art Clay, both interviewed in the feature, were not deterred from their vision to create a national organization. In 1973, they moved forward with a proposal to bring together 13 Black ski clubs for an event at the summit of Colorado’s Ajax Mountain, leading to the formation of the NBS. ....

Sheika Gramshammer named 2021 Vail Valley Citizen of the Year

For her dynamic and selfless contributions to the community, Sheika Gramshammer has been named the 2021 Vail Valley Citizen of the Year. The honor has been handed out since 1981 to deserving citizens who have provided broad support, vision, and leadership to the betterment of the community and its many nonprofit organizations.
Gramshammer was a co-recipient of the award with her husband Pepi in 1989, the year that she and her husband helped play an instrumental role in bringing the first of three Alpine World Ski Championships to Vail and Beaver Creek. In 1989, however, Sheika was just getting started. Since then she has provided philanthropic vision and community spirit enough for two lifetimes. ....
