Gucci Celebrates Its 100th Birthday With an Exhibition Surveying Creative Director Alessandro Michele's Fantastical Visions

In celebration of the luxury brand Gucci’s 100th birthday, creative director Alessandro Michele has debuted his latest fantasia-like experience, this time in the form of an immersive mixed-media exhibition entitled “Archetypes” that brings together fashion, art, music, beauty, and the joys of sensory overload to one space. 
The show, which opened last week at Gucci Garden in Florence’s historic Palazzo della Mercanzia a space that famously houses a multi-room gallery in addition to the Gucci store and a Michelin-star restaurant was conceived in tribute to sets dreamed up by Michele for 15 of the most artistic and creative campaigns he has overseen since he became creative director for the Italian heritage house in 2015. Ark builders, intergalactic explorers, horses, angels, and aliens are among the elements involved in his many designs. ....

The whole thing sounded great an online movie festival by Gus Van Sant featuring some of the world s best bubbling talent that would make us look back on traditional runway shows with the kind of misty-eyed nostalgia usually reserved for obsolete technology. Oh, and starring Harry motherf cking Styles!

.- Part of Richard Saltoun’s ‘Women 2.1’ online series of exhibitions spotlighting female artists, this virtual presentation showcases works by Italian Feminist artist Mariella Bettineschi. The show, the first solo presentation of Bettineschi’s work at the gallery features a selection of works from one of her first series: the Piumari (Feather boxes).
“At the beginning of the 1980s, after a long process of un-learning what I learnt in art school, the Piumari were born.” The Piumari was one of the artist’s first series to give voice to her ongoing interest and research into alternative languages: the ability to transform and create new ways of thinking with our own breath and further illustrating women’ ....

.-Massimo De Carlo is presenting Chess Game, an exhibition dedicated to Carl Andre (1935) and Alighiero Boetti (1940‐1994), two artists who played a pivotal role in the international art scene of the XX Century. The exhibition focuses on affinities and contrasts in Carl Andre and Alighiero Boetti’s practice during the renewal of the artistic language which arose in America and Europe between the 1960s and 1970s, and presents a selection of the most significant artworks in each artist’s first twenty years of production.
