Villamartin : , May 12 (IANS) Joaquim Rodrigues gave a winning start to Hero MotoSports Team Rally s (HMTR) campaign, clinching the top spot in the Prologue stage of the Andalucia Rally on Wednesday.
HMTR s other two riders Sebastian Buhler and Franco Caimi came in third and fourth, respectively.
All the three riders are now comfortably placed for Thursday s gruelling race as they will get to start in front, which could be crucial given the dusty nature of the terrain. ....

Joining other two-wheeler manufacturers in India with their positive growth is Honda 2Wheelers India. The two-wheeler manufacturer has reported that in January 2021, it sold 416, 716 units as compared to 374, 114 units sold in Jan 20, amounting to a growth of 11 per cent. The company mentions, despite the low-base effect of last year due to the industry s migration to BSVI norms, Honda drove the domestic two-wheeler industry s positive momentum from the front in January 21, by adding the maximum incremental volumes (+42,602 units) while maintaining normal inventory levels. Including exports of 20,467 units, Honda s total sales jumped 8 percent to 437,183 units compared to 403,406 two-wheelers sold last year. ....

Two-times in a row for Kevin Benavides and the Monster Energy Honda Team in the 2021 Dakar Rally, with the Argentinian finishing the desert race in a time of 47 hours, 18 minutes and 14 seconds. Benavides, riding the Honda CRF450L Rally, faced a strong challenge from team mate Ricky Brabec.
However, Toby Price of Red Bull KTM Factory Team, a favourite to win the 43rd edition of the Dakar Rally, dropped out in stage nine within broken collarbone, needing an emergency airlift for medical attention. Rally Dakar 2021 is officially over, with Argentinean Kevin Benavides taking the win. It’s a historic moment for Benavides; no Argentinean – or indeed South American – rider has ever won the Dakar in the motorcycle class. The 32-year-old rode his first Dakar Rally in 2016, racing for the Honda South America Rally Team, finishing his debut race in 4th place. Benavides has been with Monster Energy Honda Team ever since. This year, the Argentinean won the fifth stage giving him the overall lead, and fought for the victory till the end.
“It was absolutely crazy. I started third and after fifty kilometers, I was in the front, opening the stage. I feel that everything was complicated because Ricky started to catch up with me.
