Silchar: Adding a green touch to voting and in order to propagate messages related to conservation of the environment, this time the Assam State Election Commission has set up green or eco-friendly polling booths in Cachar district.
As per reports, first-time voters, senior citizens and PWD voters were welcomed with saplings on polling day in the district.
Adhering to green protocol, model polling booths in the district were decorated with non-polluting materials which also conveys a message about saving the environment. ....

GUWAHATI: The Government of Assam has introduced the Bodo Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council Bill-2020 . Minister for the Welfare of Plain Tribes & Backward Classes (WPT&BC), Chandan Brahma placed the Bill on the first day of the winter session in the Assam Assembly on Monday. Moreover, under the The Assam Official Language (Amendment) Bill, 2020 , step has been taken to make the Bodo language an associate official language across the State. BJP Registers Landslide Victory in Tiwa Autonomous Council

The ruling BJP registered a landslide victory in Tiwa Autonomous Council winning 33 of 36 seats, the Assam State Election Commission (ASEC) said on Saturday. BJP’s ally Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) won two seats, while the opposition Congress was decimated with just one seaat in its kitty, ASEC said in its results update.
The ruling party defeated the Congress in most of the seats it won and humbled a few Independent contestants in some places, according to the counting updates. BJP’s Moniram Patar from Gobha constituency has won uncontested, it said. ....

GUWAHATI: After taking over the reins in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) in alliance with the UPPL and GSP, the ruling BJP on Saturday registered a thumping win in the Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) elections held across four central Assam districts.
As per the tentative final results of TAC election issued by the Assam State Election Commission till the filing of this report, BJP had won 33 out of 36 seats in the autonomous council, while its ally, AGP, had won two seats. Of the 33 seats, the saffron party had already won one seat uncontested. Congress had to settle for one seat. ....
