Four-year imprisonment for ACS officer

GUWAHATI: The Court of Special Judge here on Thursday sentenced ACS (Assam Civil Service) officer Nandita Konwar to four years of imprisonment in a 2015-graft case involving the officer.
At that time, Nandita Konwar was serving as Project Director of DRDA (District Rural Development Agency) in Kamrup (Metro). She had demanded bribe to pass a bill of a contractor. The bill was in connection with road construction project at Durga Sarovar in the city. The project was undertaken under the MPLAD (Member of Parliament Local Area Development) fund.
Personnel of the V&AC (Vigilance & Anti Corruption) wing of Assam Police caught her red handed while taking Rs 12,000 in her office chamber on October 8, 2015. ....

ACS officer Nandita Konwar was allegedly caught red-handed by the vigilance and anti-corruption bureau of Assam Police while receiving a bribe.

GUWAHATI: The Special Court in Assam sentenced ACS officer Nandita Konwar to undergo imprisonment for a period of four years in a bribery case.
Notably, Konwar was allegedly caught red-handed by the vigilance and anti-corruption bureau of Assam Police while receiving a bribe.
In a tweet GP Singh, Special DGP wrote, Spl V&AC Court Ghty in Case No.10/2017 convicted Smti Nandita Konwar, ACS, then serving as PD, DRDA, Kamrup(M) Punishment: u/s 7 PC Act-3 years & fine of Rs.12,000/- u/s 13(2) PC Act-4 years & fine of Rs 20000 Both sentences to run concurrently. ....

GUWAHATI: The State administration has a shortage of 221 ACS (Assam Civil Service) officials despite the very recent recruitment of 135 personnel. Moreover, there is no possibility of any new recruitment taking place in the cadre during the remaining part of 2021. This is because the
APSC (Assam Public Service Commission) is yet to conduct even the preliminary examination to recruit more such officials. It takes almost a year to complete the selection and recruitment processes of personnel into the ACS as well as the Assam Land & Revenue Services (ALRS). ....

Guwahati: A PhD scholar from the University of Hyderabad, Mr Bruhid Rabha has cleared the Assam Public Service Commission examination. He was declared as an Assam Civil Service (ACS) Officer. Rabha is currently pursuing his PhD from School of Economics, University of Hyderabad.
The merit rank of Rabha is 48 among a total of 135 qualified candidates. Rabha has been writing his thesis on the socio-economic and environmental impact of natural rubber plantation with special m reference to Assam s economy.
