April 7, 2021 8:31 am The election of chairperson of the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) National Dairy Committee and the role of vice-chair of the National Livestock Committee is underway in the latest IFA committees election. The IFA has said that ballot papers have been issued to each member of the two committees in this latest IFA committees election. The deadline for returning the completed postal ballot is Friday, April 16. Each committee will hold a meeting on Friday week (April 16), at which the results will be announced. IFA committees election IFA national treasurer, Martin Stapleton, said that despite the restrictions imposed as a result of Covid-19, the IFA National Council decided to press ahead with elections as they were due. ....
Print Adviser Ratings chief executive, Mark Hoven, is returning to ratings house, Standard & Poor’s (S&P). Hoven parted company with S&P more than a decade ago, but today Adviser Ratings announced that he had resigned his position effective 31 March and would be taking up a new executive role at S&P Global. The departure of Hoven will see a number of internal movements at Adviser Ratings with Claire Virtue being promoted to Chief Operating Officer, (COO) and with Adviser Ratings founder and chairman, Angus Woods, returning to an executive role as “the primary interface to the market”. Adviser Ratings non-executive director, Selina Hiew will assume the role of chair. ....

In his inaugural speech, he demanded our politicians, then contesting a general election, step up for farmers. “We have heard enough waffle. We need action,” he said. It’s difficult to compare the IFA’s activity in 2020 to previous years under previous presidents. COVID-19 has taken away its normal rounds of meetings with farmers and face-to-face representations for farmers. CAP It has now embarked on a series of regional meetings to debate the issues. The clock is ticking for the association to develop a coherent policy platform, with Ireland due to submit its strategic plan by year end. ....

A A According to the group’s weekly adviser movements update, 78 advisers left the industry in the week to 24 December 2020, which was “a big uptick from prior weeks”, Adviser Ratings founder Angus Woods said. Including data from Adviser Ratings’ earlier adviser movements updates for the month, it’s estimated that almost 250 practitioners left in December, with the industry exodus continuing as many made the choice to retire at the end of the calendar year. ....
