Akuapem Poloo to appeal against 90 days sentence

Counsel for Rosemond Alade Brown, aka, Akuapem Poloo says his client will appeal against the 90 days sentence by an Accra Circuit Court on Friday.
Speaking to journalists in Accra after court proceedings, Mr. Andrew K. Vortia described the sentence as “harsh,” arguing that, his client was a first-time offender.
According to Mr Vortia, he was “disappointed” at the judgement though the trial judge had the discretion.
He said the court should have considered the mitigating factors that he had advanced; including the fact that Brown was a first time offender and a single mother. ....

Ghanaian veteran musician, Reggie Rockstone, has expressed his displeasure over the 90-day imprisonment sentence given to actress Akuapem Poloo by the Accra Circuit Court on Friday.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Ghana Connect with Evans Mensah, Friday, he stated that the actress could have been made to pay a fine rather than being slapped with such a harsh punishment.
Commenting on her custodial sentencing, the musician who broke down emotionally stated that “she could have paid a fine or did community service.”
His rage comes on the heels after Akuapem Poloo was convicted for posting naked pictures with her son on social media to celebrate his seventh birthday ....

The Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has opposed a 90-day imprisonment sentence given to actress Akuapem Poloo by the Accra Circuit Court on Friday.
Rosemond Brown popularly known as Akuapem Poloo was convicted for posting naked pictures with her son on social media to celebrate his seventh birthday.
Taking to social media on the matter, Mr Sammy Gyamfi described the day as “sad” while describing the sentence given to Akuapem Poloo as “very harsh and high-handed.”
The sentence given to @IamAkuapemPoloo is very harsh and high-handed. Given the fact that she is a first offender, pleaded guilty and showed remorse, non-custodial sentence would have been appropriate. Sad! I pray @NAkufoAddo remits her sentence or pardons her. #FreeAkuapemPoloo ....

Akuapem Poloo pleaded guilty to the charges after being slapped with three charges for going naked on social media.
Before her sentencing, she has been directed to undergo a pregnancy test to determine her status before the final decision is made on Friday, April 16, 2021.

Actress and Instagram model Rosemond Brown, popularly known as Akuapem Poloo, is to serve three months in jail.
This follows her conviction by an Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, over nude photos with her son which she shared on social media in 2020.
Poloo was convicted after pleading guilty to the charge which included the publication of obscene material and domestic violence.
