United Way of Lawrence County meeting included tribute to former board member

NEW CASTLE The United Way of Lawrence County held its 97th annual meeting via Zoom on April 20.
Executive Director Gayle Young opened the meeting with a prayer and a tribute to Wayne Alexander, who served as president of the board of directors and a committed volunteer for over 20 years. The tribute ended with comments from Jonathan Alexander, son of Wayne Alexander. Jonathan was proud of the fact that his father started the Caring Foundation in partnership with Jameson Hospital to help families with uninsured children received medical services in our area.
Terri Stramba recognized board members in attendance and thanked the volunteers for their hard work and dedication in the United Way of Lawrence County Annual Campaign. ....

HELENA â Lewis and Clark County has reached a milestone, as more than half of the people eligible to be vaccinated for COVID-19 have received at least their first dose.
Lewis and Clark Public Health made the announcement Friday. More than 28,000 people have now had their first vaccine dose, out of about 56,000 county residents age 16 or older. About 18,000 people â nearly a third of those eligible â have been fully vaccinated.
So far, the local vaccination effort has been centered around large drive-thru clinics at the Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds. However, leaders announced last week that they will start shifting to smaller, more targeted clinics. ....
