Port-a-potty truck speeds off Deputies smell trouble

Call it the great crapper caper. A man was arrested Wednesday morning in Fresno County after authorities said he led them on a pursuit while driving a stolen port-a-potty truck. Deputies smelled troubled when the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office received calls of a stolen commercial vehicle around 9:30 a.m. in the southern part of the county. A tracking device inside the truck a vehicle for United Site Services, a port-a-potty rental company led authorities to South Avenue and Highway 41, where deputies tried to stop the vehicle. But the driver sped off, spurring a pursuit from both on-the-ground deputies and a sheriff’s helicopter.

Hanford Police arrest decorated Tulare County sheriff s deputy

A decorated deputy with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office has been arrested on suspicion of rape by Hanford Police, according to police officials. Deputy Luis Araujo, who was arrested on Tuesday, received the Officer of the Year award from the Knights of Columbus in 2020 for work he did while serving at the Visalia substation.  Araujo is the second Officer of the Year recipient to be arrested in Hanford in the last two weeks. Last week, Visalia Police detective Samantha Adney was arrested on domestic abuse and DUI charges. Adney received the award in April. According to Lt. James Lutz, public information officer with the Hanford Police, it’s the department’s policy not to divulge details in domestic abuse cases.

Police: Gang member arrested for possession of an unregistered firearm

Selma Police say that they arrested a gang member for possession of an unregistered firearm during a traffic stop June 30.  At approximately 7:47 p.m.,  officers conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Wright Street and Floral Avenue on a black Mercury Grand Marquis for a traffic violation. The vehicle was occupied by four male subjects who were including Andres Valtierra Gomes, 19, and Caruthers resident Felipe Esquivel, 30, both of Caruthers. Through the course of this investigation officers located a loaded unregistered Springfield XD .40 caliber handgun under the passenger seat, police said. Officers were able to determine the firearm belonged to Esquivel who was ultimately placed in custody, according to reports. Authorities say that Esquivel is a documented East Side Fresno Northerner (Norteno) gang member from the city of Fresno. Gomez was arrested on an outstanding warrant. The remaining occupants were later released with no criminal charges.
