根據外國媒體的綜合報導，來自英國的18歲少女亞尚蒂史密斯（Ashanti Smith），心理狀態就跟一般少女一樣喜歡漂亮、喜歡打扮，也會和普通人一樣會追星、發脾氣，十分有自己的想法，偶爾還會來點雞尾酒享受生活。但她的身體卻十分異常，一出生就罹患超罕見的早衰症（Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria syndrome），每年都以「增加8歲」的速度老化，使她實際上雖只有18歲，身體狀況及外觀卻已高齡144歲，行動一年比一年還退化。
