Sindh hastens industrial zone work

KARACHI: Sindh government has expedited work on a proposal to set up a new industrial zone in North Karachi, and was seeking a site, which would be finalised later in consultation with the North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI).
This was stated by Sindh Information and Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah during a meeting with a delegation led by NKATI President Faisal Moiz Khan, SVP Shabir Ismail and Sub-Committee Local Bodies Chairman Syed Yasir Hussain at his residence.
Shah said that promotion of trade and industry was the top priority of Sindh government, and Pakistan Peoples’ Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto had the same vision.

The Sindh government has intensified work on a proposal to establish a new industrial zone ‘NKATI 2.’ The site for NKATI 2 will be finalised with the North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI).
Sindh Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah expressed these views during a meeting with a KATI delegation led by its president, Faisal Moiz Khan, and comprising SVP Shabir Ismail and Syed Yasir Hussain, chairman of the sub-committee on local bodies. The minister said the promotion of trade and industry is a priority of the Sindh government. He directed the Water Board MD to ensure an uninterrupted supply of water to the industries.

Industries located in North Karachi have been facing acute water shortage for the past many days and due to this production activities have been stalled and it is feared that export orders may be missed. KARACHI: The president of the North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI), Faisal Moiz Khan, has called upon Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to take notice of severe water crisis in North Karachi and issue directives to the water board for supplying water as per the need of industries to ensure smooth production activities.
In a statement, he said tanker mafia has plenty of water while in contrast water is not available from water board lines.
“Production activities are stalled due to non-availability of water to factories thus causing delay in timely delivery of foreign orders,” he said. He claimed that the MD Water Board was contacted to discuss the matter, but he did not give any positive response.

KARACHI: The Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) on Wednesday announced the completion of Annual Turnaround (ATA) of the upstream Kunnar-Pasakhi Deep (KPD) gas field and it will now be in a position to resume normal gas supply to consumers.
“Now back online, KPD is currently providing 100 mmcfd to SSGCL and would gradually ramp up its volume till July 7 when it would start supplying the full quantum of the normal 177 mmcfd gas,” SSGCL said in a statement.
