Sindh hastens industrial zone work

KARACHI: Sindh government has expedited work on a proposal to set up a new industrial zone in North Karachi, and was seeking a site, which would be finalised later in consultation with the North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI).
This was stated by Sindh Information and Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah during a meeting with a delegation led by NKATI President Faisal Moiz Khan, SVP Shabir Ismail and Sub-Committee Local Bodies Chairman Syed Yasir Hussain at his residence.
Shah said that promotion of trade and industry was the top priority of Sindh government, and Pakistan Peoples’ Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto had the same vision.

The KCCI issued a statement here and said industries of Sindh particularly of Karachi were highly aggrieved and perturbed by the Sindh government’s move to increase the minimum wage from Rs17,500 to Rs25,000 without following due process of law and contrary to the provisions of Sindh Minimum Wage Act 2015 and ILO’s minimum wages fixation convention 1970.
The increase in the minimum wage would make industries of Sindh uncompetitive and unviable to operate, not locally but also globally, it stated, adding that minimum wage in the centre and Punjab was Rs20,000 while in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan it was Rs21,000 and the minimum wages fixed by Sindh were not equitable to the empl

The Sindh government has intensified work on a proposal to establish a new industrial zone ‘NKATI 2.’ The site for NKATI 2 will be finalised with the North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI).
Sindh Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah expressed these views during a meeting with a KATI delegation led by its president, Faisal Moiz Khan, and comprising SVP Shabir Ismail and Syed Yasir Hussain, chairman of the sub-committee on local bodies. The minister said the promotion of trade and industry is a priority of the Sindh government. He directed the Water Board MD to ensure an uninterrupted supply of water to the industries.

KARACHI: The Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) on Wednesday announced the completion of Annual Turnaround (ATA) of the upstream Kunnar-Pasakhi Deep (KPD) gas field and it will now be in a position to resume normal gas supply to consumers.
“Now back online, KPD is currently providing 100 mmcfd to SSGCL and would gradually ramp up its volume till July 7 when it would start supplying the full quantum of the normal 177 mmcfd gas,” SSGCL said in a statement.
SSGC, trade bodies agree on mechanism to overcome gas crisis

KARACHI: Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and trade associations reached an agreement to overcome gas crisis that is adversely affecting industrial production, industry officials said on Wednesday.
All seven industrial zones agreed not to use gas in their factories one day a week and in return SSGC would ensure full-pressure gas supply for six days a week under an agreement, they said.
âSeven Karachi town associations have signed a memorandum of understanding with SSGC on short term basis to address the gas crisis and find a solution to gas shutdown in industries,â Faisal Moiz, president of North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry said.
