MARJORIE JEAN MCMILLAN


Marjorie Jean (Crews) McMillan passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, July 13 at The Lodge in Fayette, Missouri.  She was 94 years old.  Born on March 15, 1927 in Fayette to James Hamilton “Hamp” Crews and Marie Elizabeth (Heying) Crews, Margie attended Fayette public schools until the family relocated to Los Angeles, California in 1938, where she graduated from high school in 1944.  Upon returning to Fayette, Margie attended Central College (now Central Methodist University).
Margie married Charles Keeling “Dude” McMillan on September 22, 1946.  Her love and partner in life, Dude owned McMillan’s Café in Fayette while Margie ran their home.  Beginning with the “coffee drinkers” at eight o’clock in the morning, local patrons throughout the day and a college hang-out in the evenings, Mac’s was both a full-time job and passion for them both and she was his perfect partner to make it all work. ....

Presented by Nationwide, the Ohio FFA, Ohio Farm Bureau, Farm Credit Mid-America, and AgCredit, the Golden Owl Award recognizes agricultural educators across Ohio for their tremendous contributions to helping the next generation of agricultural leaders.
Through the program, students, fellow teachers and other supporters can nominate their favorite agricultural teacher and summarize what makes him or her the best in the state.
On Thursday, April 29, Don Hammersmith from Ayersville High School was named the 2021 Ohio Agricultural Educator of the Year. Along with the title, Hammersmith will win the $3,000 grand prize to support continued ag education efforts at Ayersville. Hammersmith is known for his high standards as an educator, his commitment to students, and his value as a role model. ....

Dr. Bryan Thomsen is named as the new Moberly Public School District s Assistant Superintendent over Human Resources, Special Programs and the Title IX Coordinator beginning July 1. The Moberly Board of Education on April 20 announced Thomsen to be Dr. Dustin Fanning s successor in this position as Fanning was named last month as the district s new superintendent.
According to a Moberly school distirct press release issued late Tuesday afternoon, Dr. Thomsen has 20 years of experience in teaching and administration including nine years as superintendent for North Callaway R-1 Schools and, most recently, at Oak Grove R-VI Schools. ....

Orpha W. Gingrich, 94, of Evendale, went to be with Jesus at 4:51 p.m., Tuesday, March 30, 2021m at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Dec. 27, 1926, in Fayette Twp., Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late Michael W. and Alma (Lauver) Wert.
On June 22, 1947, she married her late husband, J. Lloyd Gingrich, with whom she was blessed to share over 72 years of marriage before his passing on April 11, 2020. Together, they farmed for many years in Evendale.
She is survived by: her children, Margaret Varner and her husband Tim, of McAlisterville, John M. Gingrich and his wife Rosanne, of Richfield, David Gingrich and his wife Phyllis, of Thompsontown, Dale Gingrich and his wife Gladys, of Richfield, Barbara Gingrich, of Richfield, Paul Gingrich and his wife Debra, of Dillsburg, and Marie Vredevelt and her husband Kirk, of Alto, MI; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and her extended family. ....
