HARTFORD/TOLLAND COUNTIES, CT As all eyes were directed at Washington, D.C. and the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris Thursday, many people in northern and central Connecticut were expressing their feelings publicly, both in person and via social media.

Enfield Town Council to Vote On Building Consolidation Plan

ENFIELD, CT The Enfield Town Council will vote Tuesday night on a series of 11 resolutions pertaining to the proposed consolidation of a number of town-owned buildings, including demolition of the Angelo Lamagna Activity Center and the long-vacant Strand Theater building.
The proposal, presented by Town Manager Christopher Bromson at a recent council meeting, would involve shifting several departments into various town buildings, including the former Alcorn School, the former Fermi High School, the Enfield Express and the Enfield Senior Center. ....

Enfield man brings holiday cheer to kids by taking Santa on the road


ENFIELD — Cars honked, parents waved and children screamed with excitement as Santa Claus made his way through town Wednesday night.
Lifelong Enfield resident David “DJ” Tuttle Jr., 40, who graduated from Fermi High School in 1999 and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy before becoming a judicial marshal, dressed up as St. Nick and traveled in his “sleigh” to bring treats and holiday cheer to kids at about 40 homes in town.
His “sleigh” was his gray 2010 Chevy Silverado pickup truck decorated with multi-colored holiday lights and outfitted with a speaker to continually broadcast 100 Christmas carols via Bluetooth during the ride. His friend, Pete Devine, was behind the wheel so Tuttle, in full Santa regalia, could ride in the bed of the truck on the journey. ....

ENFIELD, CT For the third time this year, retired Fermi High School wrestling coach Ben Aleks received notification Tuesday that he had been selected to receive recognition for his contributions to the sport. The accolades have grown dramatically in scope, from local to statewide to national, with the latest honor being the highest an individual can achieve: election to the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum.
Aleks, 73, received a letter at his Somers home from Lee Roy Smith, executive director of the Oklahoma-based hall of fame, informing him he has been chosen for the Lifetime Service to Wrestling Award. Santa is coming to Enfield tonight, and streaming live on Facebook


ENFIELD — When David DJ Tuttle Jr. dons his Santa suit tonight, it will be all about the kids in his community of Enfield.
At 6 p.m. Tuttle will begin broadcasting live on Facebook on his own page and as he journeys as jolly old St. Nick to at least 40 homes in Enfield to spread holiday cheer.
His sleigh will be his gray 2010 Chevy Silverado pickup truck decorated with multi-colored holiday lights and outfitted with a speaker to continually broadcast 100 Christmas carols via Bluetooth during the ride.
Tuttle, 40, who works as a judicial marshal and is a lifelong resident of Enfield — he graduated from Fermi High School in 1999 and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy will be traveling in the bed of his slow-moving pickup truck, using his cellphone to film live on Facebook as his friend, Pete Devine of Enfield, drives, accompanied by Devine s wife, Polly. ....
