WHERE: (many counties are affected by Red Flag Warnings through at least Thursday evening) Helena and Townsend Ranger Districts of the Helena National Forest, Eastern Glacier/Toole/Central/Eastern Pondera/Liberty, Hill and Blaine Counties, Lewis and Clark National Forest Rocky Mountain District-Rocky Mountain Front, Chouteau and Fergus Counties and Central and Eastern Lewis and Clark National Forest Areas.
WIND: across much of Montana, winds will continue between 15 mph and 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph through Thursday evening.

The state added 437 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the state to 94,810 total reports, 3,421 of which remain active.
The state posted 437 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing Montana’s total to 94,810 confirmed reports.
Of the total cases, 90,086 are recovered and 3,421 remain active. There are 121 people who are now hospitalized out of 4,307 total hospitalizations, according to the state website covid19.mt.gov.
Montana added 54 deaths since Tuesday, bringing the total to 1,303 fatalities related to the respiratory illness.
Throughout the pandemic, DPHHS has worked with local jurisdictions on data reconciliation regarding death certificates, wrote a spokesperson with the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services in an email Wednesday. At this point, we re catching up on this work, ....

Montana details COVID-19 vaccine timelines, 629 new cases on Dec. 30


Gov. Steve Bullock provided an update regarding the state s COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan on Wednesday to incorporate federal recommendations and timelines.
The updated plan provides estimated timelines for distribution for Phases 1a, 1b and 1c including the final phase, which is when vaccines are expected to be available to all Montanans by early summer 2021. The plan also identifies which groups are recommended to receive the vaccine in each phase.
As the first phase of Montana s COVID-19 vaccination plan is fully under way, it s inspiring to see that thousands of health care workers have already been vaccinated and that it s now reaching staff and residents of long-term care facilities, Bullock said in the announcement. ....
