Fulton County Fair pageants, talent contest entries open

Entries are open for the Fulton County Fair pageants and the Youth Talent Contest, and entries, with entry fees, are due by July 1.
The pageants and the youth talent contest will be held at the Salem Civic Center located on the Fulton County Fairgrounds. The Fulton County Fair Queen for ages 18-23 and Junior Fair Queen Pageants for ages 14-17 will be July 24. Pageants for ages 5-13 Petite Miss for ages 5-7, Junior Miss for ages 8-10 and Young Miss for ages 11-13 will be held July 26. The date for Baby Girl and Baby Boy for ages 4 months to 12 months, Tiny Tot Girl for ages 13 months to 24 months, Tiny Tot Boy for ages 13 months to 36 months and Little Miss for ages 2-4 will be held July 27. ....

Fulton County has new assessor

Photo: Courtesy Areawide MediaFulton County has a new assessor following a vote of the quorum court in a special meeting earlier this month.
Areawide Media reports the meeting was called to declare the vacancy of Fulton County assessor and to make an appointment. The court voted unanimously to appoint Lavenia Goodson to fill the vacancy.
Fulton County Assessor Brad Schaufler recently announced his retirement and served his last day in office Nov. 30. Schaufler served as assessor for 12 years. He took office Jan. 1, 2009. ....
