Olympics: Momota out to add highlight chapter to eventful badminton career
Japanese badminton star Kento Momota has had a rollercoaster journey to the Tokyo Games, but the 26-year-old is determined to pay back those who have supported his Olympic quest after a gambling scandal cost him a place in Rio de Janeiro four years ago.
Momota was a clear medal hopeful ahead of the Rio Games, only to miss out when he was banned from the court indefinitely in April that year by the Japan Badminton Association for gambling at illegal casinos.

One year after the original opening, the Tokyo Olympic Games will be held on July 23, and the three-and-a-half-hour opening ceremony officially kicked off.
The event held at the National Stadium in the Japanese capital aims to celebrate the world’s “diversity unity” and provide encouragement to more than 11,000 athletes who will participate in the Olympics, most of whom have no crowds to cheer for them.
After participating in a journey of approximately 10,000 runners across 47 prefectures in Japan, the Olympic flame will be the centerpiece of the ceremony.
“Our goal is to show human affirmation and hope for the future,” said Shintaro Hirano, the choreographer director. ....

The delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games will be staged at a total of 42 venues, 27 of which are in and around the Japanese capital.
Those 27 are split into the Heritage Zone and Tokyo Bay Zone with the other 15 outlying venues.
The Heritage Zone contains iconic arenas which were a part of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, and will be reused in various forms, while the Tokyo Bay Zone houses 16 venues, as well as the International Broadcast Centre and Main Press Centre. The Olympic village can be found at the intersection of the two zones. ....
