ANISH CHAND Image: THE FIJI TIMES ONLINE The Fijian Government’s domestic debt is expected to reach $5.2 billion by the end of July, 2021 and is predominantly held by Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) and insurance companies which hold long-term government bonds. This, according to the Economic and Fiscal Update to the 2021-2022 budget by the Ministry of Economy. The Ministry of Economy says Government intends to change the existing maturity profile of the total debt portfolio through the gradual reduction of Treasury bills with the “issuance of short and medium-term bonds (2-5 year tenure) from FY2021-2022 onwards. “Government will also continue issuances of longterm bonds with maturities of 10 years, 15 years and 20 years.” ....
