Numerous alarming factors, including multiple outbreaks, coronavirus variants and lax mentality have all contributed to Vietnam s ongoing fourth Covid-19 wave, experts said.
After spending around a month with no new community transmission, on April 27 Vietnam saw its streak broken after a hotel employee in the northern Yen Bai Province got infected from a group of Indian experts quarantined at the hotel.
Two days later, six local cases were recorded in northern Ha Nam Province, stemming from a man who finished his mandatory 14-day quarantine period after returning from Japan, but neglected self-isolation protocols and passed on the virus. ....

A lax mentality that breached prevention protocols has worsened the situation of virus variants and other factors that Vietnam is dealing with in its fourth Covid-19 wave.
After going for more than a month without any Covid-19 community transmission, the streak snapped on April 27 with a hotel employee infected by a group of Indian experts quarantined at the hotel in the northern province of Yen Bai.
Two days later, six more local cases were recorded in the northern province of Ha Nam. The cases stemmed from one man who finished his mandatory 14-day quarantine period after returning from Japan, but neglected post-quarantine self-isolation protocols and ended up passing the virus to others. ....

Relapse cases allowed to self-isolate at home, not hospital

VOV.VN - Discharged patients who re-test positive for the virus will be allowed to self-quarantine at home as opposed to at healthcare facilities as previously, the Ministry of Health said in its latest COVID-19 regulations.
A COVID-19 patient is under treatment at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases.
Relapse cases will be closely monitored at home over seven days, and they will be declared virus free if they test negative following a seven-day self-quarantine, according to the latest treatment regimen.
Prof. Nguyen Van Kinh, president of the Association for Infectious Diseases, said relatives of relapse cases won’t be forced to quarantine at specific venues and will only be given medical supervision at home. ....
