Despite enjoying special incentives, foreign investment flows into Hoa Lac High-tech Park are yet to meet expectations – and possible moves to align all such parks with the same policies will only increase the competition between them as they try to persuade investors to pour money into  digital transformation ventures.

Hoa Lac High-tech Park (HHTP) is now surrounded with complete infrastructure and favourable transport links which were expected to be an important factor for investment attraction. According to the park’s Management Board, it attracted six projects with total investment of about VND9 trillion ($391 million) in 2020, including one foreign and five domestically-owned. They focus on research and development, manufacturing, and high-tech pharma ....

Intel had poured an additional 475 million USD into Intel Products Vietnam (IPV), its single-largest assembly and test plant within the Intel Assembly and Test (ATM) network, IPV Director of Finance Alan Danner said on January 27.

He made the announcement during a meeting with businesses hosted by Saigon Hi-tech Park (SHTP) in Ho Chi Minh City.
This is a new investment following a sum of 1.04 billion USD invested to build a chip assembly and test manufacturing facility at SHTP in 2006, bringing the semiconductor company’s investment in Vietnam to 1.5 billion USD in total. ....

Intel Corporation today (January 27) announced it has invested a further $475 million in Intel Products Vietnam (IPV).
This new investment is in addition to Intel’s $1 billion investment to build a state-of-the-art chip assembly and test manufacturing (ATM) facility in Saigon High-Tech Park (SHTP), first announced in 2006. This takes Intel’s total investment in its Vietnam facility to $1.5 billion.
According to Kim Huat Ooi, vice president of Manufacturing and Operations and general manager of Intel Products Vietnam Co., Ltd., as of the end of 2020, Intel Products Vietnam has shipped more than 2 billion units to customers worldwide. “We’re very proud of this milestone, which shows both how important IPV is to helping Intel meet the needs of its customers all around the world, and why we continue to invest in our facilities and team her ....

Intel has revealed that it pumped an extra US$475m into its facilities in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Chipzilla revealed the investments today during a ceremony at which it was awarded an “Amended Investment Registration Certificate” – recognition from Vietnam’s government that it had spent the money on expanding its existing chip assembly and test manufacturing facility in Saigon.
Intel’s announcement says the money “helped enhance manufacturing of Intel’s 5G products, Intel Core processors with Intel Hybrid Technology and 10th Gen Intel Core processors.” ....
