As Lilongwe Resident Magistrate court continues hearing the fraud and money laundering case of K107 Million at Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (Mera), the accused which include former CEO Collins Magalasi and 3 others are back in court this morning. During the previous appearance one of the accused, business lady Dorothy Shonga Nkhoma popularly known as Cash Madam asked the court to give her three to four weeks to engage another lawyer arguing she does not want to be represented by her former counsel anymore. Shonga has since identified a new lawyer to represent her in the case following the leaving of her previous lawyer, Gift Nankhuni.

Demanding justice for Waheeda as William Phiri who killed her walks free from prison

December 27, 2020 Nyasa Times Reporter 20 Comments Lilongwe businessperson William Mark Phiri, who allegedly murdered his lover  Waheeda Bagus, 23, has been released from prison on bail prompting the victim’s family to demand speedy trial and ensure the case reaches its logical conclusion. Lilongwe businessperson William Mark Phiri, who shot  his second wife Waheeda Bagus Late Waheeda Bagus awho died at 23, had a child together with Phiri. The  37-year-old Phiri of Mak Construction shot his ‘baby mama’ Waheeda  on December 15 2019 in Lilongwe and died at Kamuzu Central Hospital a few days later aged 23. Bagus family were incensed with the release of  Phiri, who has been on remand for more than a year and has been throwing parties in the capital city Lilongwe to celebrate his gaining of liberties.
