Members of Parliament allied to ODM are demanding the arrest and prosecution of individuals involved in the formation of ghost schools that were used to siphon public funds.
The MPs including Shinyalu MP Justus Kizito, Mathare North s Anthony Oluoch and Kwale County Woman Representative Zuleikha Hassan called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate and arrest the suspects involved in the acts. ....

Leaders say Raila didn't contract virus in the Coast

THE STANDARD
Coast politicians have maintained that ODM leader Raila Odinga (
pictured) did not contract Covid-19 during his tour of the region.
The leaders yesterday made public their Covid-19 status after tests, and insisted that elaborate health measures were adhered to during Raila’s five-day tour of the region.
Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo said they ensured microphones were sanitised when Raila addressed rallies in Kilifi County.
“If our party leader could have contracted the coronavirus in Coast, the situation could have turned bad within 24 hours. Raila felt sick several days after the Coast tour. We believe he contracted Covid-19 in Nairobi,” said Mr Madzayo, adding: “Raila did not contract the disease at the Coast. He held other meetings in Nairobi after the Coast tour.”  ....

THE STANDARD

Unrelenting forays by ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto into Coast have stirred a debate over the political future of the region ahead of the 2022 polls.
On Friday, Raila completed his five-day tour in four coastal counties barely 14-days after Ruto’s visit, in what is now being touted as the scramble for the region’s 2.4 million-odd votes.
As Raila left on Friday, Kanu chair and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi also arrived in Taita Taveta County to drum up support for the BBI. Last month, Moi also held rallies in Lamu. ....

What Coast residents and leaders want BBI to handle

THE STANDARD

Coast leaders have cited historical land injustices, claims of marginalisation and unemployment as the main issues proponents of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) should address.
Local leaders and residents told ODM leader Raila Odinga during his tour of the Coast that BBI Bill had not clearly spelt out solutions to the squatter problem, years of economic marginalisation and youth unemployment.
The same issues popped up at all Raila s rallies in Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale and Taita Taveta counties where the issue of mineral royalties and revenue from the expansive Tsavo National Park were raised. ....
