Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 8) The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board will open next week more public transportation routes in the capital region, with another 4,400 traditional jeepneys and provincial buses allowed to ply the roads.
This plan will push through even if the enhanced community quarantine imposed over the NCR Plus area gets extended beyond April 11, LTFRB Metro Manila regional director Zona Tamayo said Thursday.
“Kahit ECQ ngayon sa NCR Plus, hindi po na-suspend ang public transportation per IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) resolution, so patuloy po ang ating pagbibigay-serbisyo sa pampublikong sasakyan,” she said in a virtual media briefing. ....

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is eyeing to open more routes for traditional jeepneys and provincial buses in Metro Manila in a bid to quell the proliferation of colorum vehicles transporting people circumventing quarantine restrictions.
At a virtual press briefing on Thursday, LTFRB National Capital Region (NCR) Regional Director Zona Tamayo announced that in the coming week the agency is planning to open 60 more routes for traditional public utility jeepneys and additional 190 routes for provincial buses entering Metro Manila.
The planned additional routes for both PUJs and provincial buses translate to at least 4,400 more public transportation units in the region, comprising 1,800 PUJs and 2,600 buses. ....
