Police investigating a terrorism event were yesterday examining whether the knife Raghe Abdi wielded at police had been used to murder an elderly couple in their home.
The 22-year-old student was killed by police early on Thursday after they approached him on the Logan Motorway following reports he was walking among traffic.
Dashboard video footage provided to the media yesterday showed several seconds of Abdi walking backwards as two police officers attempted to coax him to safety. ....

Police fury at racism claim after motorway shooting

Police are furious at outspoken Greens Councillor Jonathan Sri after he sympathised with a knife-wielding man shot dead by police and suggested Queensland officers were racist.
Cr Sri s comments came after 22-year-old Raghe Abdi was shot dead by police on the Logan Motorway on Thursday, after lunging at officers with a knife.

There was no suggestion that (Abdi) had threatened violence towards anyone else prior to the police being called out, so you have to wonder why police had no choice but to kill him, Cr Sri posted on Facebook on Thursday night, before reports of Abdi s connection to the murder of Mr and Mrs Antill were reported. ....

The murder of an elderly couple in their Brisbane home has been declared a âterrorism eventâ and they are believed to have been victims of a ârandomâ attack by a man later shot dead by police.
Authorities are so concerned they continue to doorknock all the neighbouring homes in the Parkinson area to check whether there are any more victims.
Detectives have uncovered a link between the man shot dead on the Logan Motorway, 22-year-old Raghe Abdi, and the couple killed in their Parkinson home - Maurice Antill, 87, and Zoe Antill, 86. ....

Raghe Abdi, 22, was shot dead by police when he allegedly lunged at them armed with a knife on Brisbane s Logan Motorway early on Thursday morning.
Abdi, who had allegedly been influenced by Somali extremist group al-Shabab, was on bail and had previously been arrested by counterterrorism officers.
Police say Abdi is directly linked to the deaths of a 87-year-old man and an 86-year-old woman, whose bodies were found with significant injuries in a home at Parkinson on Thursday afternoon.
