Next on American History tv, author kevin tyson talks about his book, when it mattered most, which tells the story of the seattle metropolitans who became the first u. S. Hockey team to win the stanley cup when they defeated the Montreal Canadiens in 1917. The story is set against the backdrop of president Woodrow Wilson mustering support for u. S. Entry into world war i while the conflict raged in europe. The u. S. Declared war on germany six days after the metropolitans victory. Its a little like reading the last chapter of an Agatha Christie in, you know, whats the point you need to get should the build up . And i recommend the build up because its a really terrific read. But lets start somewhere else. Im curious. I mean, i and i think maybe other people in the audience know you as a novelist and indeed not an historical novelist. Very contemporary.
