王雁南原名“赵亮”。由于其父曾任中共总书记，作为赵紫阳唯一女儿，她一度获得“红色公主”之称。然而1989年“六四事件”后，赵紫阳被撤销中共党内外一切职务并遭受软禁，“赵亮”隐去赵紫阳的姓氏改随丈夫王志华，取名王雁南至今。
生于1954年的王雁南今年已有67岁。这位曾经的“红色公主”，如今已是一位商界女强人，实现了自己的华丽转身。
公开资料显示，1950年代赵紫阳与妻子梁伯琪作为“南下干部”被调往广东工作期间，在广州生下了女儿王雁南。她在1977毕业于广州外语学院英语系。1977年至1981年间，王雁南在中国国防部外事局做英文翻译，之后前往美国杨百翰大学夏威夷分校就读酒店管理。1983年学成回国后，在北京长城饭店工作9年之久，先后任职客务经理、执行副经理及副总经理等职。
