UK partnership aims to revolutionise imaging for drug development

Nine-partner project including Zepler Institute will develop imaging technologies “at unprecedented resolution and speed”.
The collaboration is one of nine Prosperity Partnerships announced by the UK Government, to be funded by a total £75 million ($104 million) investment from business, academia and UK Research and Innovation s (UKRI) Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
Professor Sumeet Mahajan, Professor in Molecular Biophotonics and Imaging at ZIPN, commented, “This partnership will bring together technology developers and end-users to create transformative opportunities in quantitative imaging of 3D biological samples.

Disease diagnostics firm spins out from Southampton’s Zepler Institute

Highfield Diagnostics’ approach, expected to “transform lateral flow testing”, has secured initial funding.
Spin-out: Highfield Diagnostics point-of-care diagnostics photonics technology. Medical testing technology developed at the Zepler Institute for Photonics and Nanoelectronics (ZIPN) , Southampton, UK, has been spun out and secured initial funding to unleash “the next generation of lateral flow diagnostics”. Details of the funding were not disclosed.
Highfield Diagnostics (HDx) has developed a patented photonics technology that will provide smart point-of-care testing solutions for many of the most difficult global health challenges, including Covid-19, leishmaniasis, dementia, sepsis, UTIs, AMR, tuberculosis, allergy and asthma. ....

ORC-Zepler: Si-photonics showcase reports ‘dramatic advances’

£6 million program, led by Graham Reed, has overcome significant R&D challenges for industry-compatible technology.
Silicon photonics advances could expand the capabilities of data centers. Silicon photonics experts highlighted the dramatic progress made this technology at a research showcase in mid-December, hosted by the Zepler Institute for Photonics and Nanoelectronics, Southampton, UK.
The Silicon Photonics for Future Systems (SPFS) Showcase reported advances that will both enhance conventional silicon photonics applications, but also transform new application areas such as programmable photonics and video production in mainstream media.
Highlights included a demonstration of very high data rate transmission, wafer scale testing technology, multilayer photonic circuits, and lasers integrated on silicon chips. ....
