Residents bring complaints about septic backups to Bucyrus council

More than a dozen people attended the meeting  none of them happy. According to a report by the National Weather Service, weather gauges around Bucyrus reported rainfall amounts ranging from 1.66 inches to 4.15 inches in the three days ending July 17.  Steve Jones, a Whetstone Township trustee, told council members he had received many complaints about flooding in the Timken subdivision just east of the city, with residents reporting septic lines backing up into basements. He noted the city had crews clearing drains in the neighborhood on Tuesday. Said there wasn t much of a problem, but there is a problem when these guys have septic coming up into their basement, Jones said. Their house smells, it s filthy and they gotta go down and clean it up.
