Protest against KMC operation stops after agreement

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) held a massive anti-encroachment operation on Sunday morning in District Eastâs Gulistan-e-Zafar Society to clean the Manzoor Colony Nullah. Residents of the area protested against the operation and caused hurdles in it.
Heavy machinery was used to demolish huge residential and commercial units in the presence of a heavy contingent of officials of the law enforcement agencies. The deputy commissioner of the East district had already written a letter to the Sindh director general, the director anti-encroachment force of the Board of Revenue, the relevant K-Electric officials and several other municipal agencies of the city regarding the provision of security and equipment for the operation.

The district
administration and city government will launch the second phase of the
anti-encroachment drive along Mehmoodabad nullah on Sunday.
The
District East Deputy Commissioner Office has requested security and equipment
for the drive in Gulistan-e-Zafar, which is located near Masjid-e-Roomi on
Shahrae Faisal.
The district administration has taken the Sindh Rangers, police, and other civic organisations on board for the drive.

Sindh CM reviews hydrological, hydraulic analysis of storms water drains

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed the NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, to expedite work on a survey and detailed designs of the Gujjar and Orangi storm drains’ network by December 31, 2020, and January 15, 2021, respectively.
He issued these directives while presiding over a meeting on the storm water drains’ cleanliness at the CM House on Friday.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Labour Saeed Ghani, law adviser Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Mumtaz Shah, Chairman P&D Mohammad Waseem, Commissioner Karachi Naveed Shaikh, NED Vice Chancellor Dr Sarosh Lodhi, PSCM Sajid Jamal Abro, KMC Administrator Laiq Ahmed, the secretaries for finance and local government and other officials concerned.
