Wonder Woman 1984 released in Australian cinemas on December 26, but a month on it’s already been released on digital services. Amazon Prime Video, iTunes and Google Play are all offering the film to rent for $29.99 or to buy from $34.99.
While it is slightly more expensive than a movie ticket, it does raise questions about the future viability of the cinema experience.

“Wonder Woman 1984”, which had exclusively been playing theaters and drive-ins downunder, has been fast-tracked for digital.
Warner Bros. Pictures and Roadshow Entertainment announced today that Patty Jenkins’ super-sequel arrives on Premium Video on Demand (PVOD) and premium digital ownership in Australia and New Zealand from January 27, 2021.
This title will be one of the first wide-released blockbusters to be fast-tracked ahead of the usual three month release window.
The film has been a bonza hit for Australia, bringing in over $26 million to the Australian and New Zealand Box Office, and now fans and families will have the option to enjoy the film in the comfort of their own home, or continue to enjoy the film on the big screen.
