Waka Kotahi NZTA is advising that State Highway 1 is now shut between Rangipo and Waiouru. A detour is in place. “Please follow the detour and allow at least an extra 45 minutes travel time,” says a statement on Waka Kotahi’s website. Contract awarded for $550k playground construction

Western Bay of Plenty District Council has awarded the construction contract for the upgrade of the Omokoroa playground with an expected total cost of just over half a million dollars.
The Council have confirmed Downer have been awarded the contract for the upgrade and the construction component of the $1.04 million project is expected to total approximately $550,000.
Council’s Reserves and Facilities projects and assets manager, Scott Parker, says Council followed a robust tender evaluation process before making their decision.
“Downer are also responsible for the maintenance of Council’s reserves network, including playgrounds, and we are confident their teams’ experience on similar projects across the country will enable them to successfully deliver this project for our Omokoroa community,” says Scott. ....
