Prime Minister Imran Khan directed on Wednesday for expediting the process of bringing effective legislation in parliament regarding enforced disappearances as the families of the missing persons pray and search for their loved-ones endlessly in the absence of a proper mechanism.
In the post-cabinet press briefing, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz said that the prime minister has given clear instructions to activate a bill reportedly pending before the parliament for a couple of years, and devise a mechanism for resolving the issue. ....

The Ministry of Human Rights (MoHR) launched its annual performance report 2020 at an interactive media engagement session held on Monday.
The report highlighted significant initiatives taken to protect and promote the rights of women, children, people with disabilities, transgender women, and other vulnerable population groups.
The report also included chapters on the ministry s progress in projects under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP); special initiatives launched to mitigate the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic as well as the engagements of the Federal Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari. ....

The new Anti-Rape Ordinance, 2020 is vital for the protection of rape witnesses and survivors, Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari said.
In an interview to SAMAA TV, she said the new law was very important for Pakistan. Earlier, there was no security for the identities of rape survivors and eye-witnesses.
Under the ordinance, special courts that deal with rape cases will be set up across the country to speed up the justice process for women and child victims of sexual abuse. They will be directed to complete investigations within four months, said the official account of the president on Twitte ....
