Great Lakes invasive species to be studied for free virtual program

Contributed MUNISING   Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore’s education team announced a free virtual program for middle and high school students, who will learn about invasive species in the Great Lakes region. It will specifically focus on the life and management of sea lamprey in the Great Lakes. This program will be hosted by the National Park Service, with special guests from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service out of Marquette.  Teachers and students are encouraged to sign up for the program, which will be hosted via Microsoft Teams. The live program events will be hosted at 1 p.m. on March 12 and at 10 a.m. on March 18. The event will be recorded for teachers and students who are unable to attend on these dates. The live event is expected to last about 45 minutes with time for students to ask rangers questions. There is a limited amount of space for the live events, so teachers are encouraged to sign up by emailing piro education@nps.gov.
